The pros have made their mark on the game since the start of the Overwatch League, and the game team has celebrated their impact over the years with unique Legendary skins inspired by the biggest names and moments in league history.

Here is the list of all Overwatch League legendary skins over the years from 2018 to 2022. Each skin costs 200 League Tokens (during the limitd time), which fans can earn by watching Overwatch League broadcasts on Overwatch League YouTube with linked account.

Royal Knight Mercy Skin (Midseason Madness 2022)

Loyalty, bravery, and the power of resurrection—Royal Knight Mercy has arrived on the Midseason Madness battlefield.

Mercy Legendary Skin “Royal Knight”

The Overwatch League tournament-inspired legendary skin pays homage to last year’s June Joust, with Mercy ready to take the field of honor with a lance-inspired staff. Sporting a classic plumed knight’s helmet and armor from head to toe (to wings), this design represents “a version of Mercy in the medieval ages,” according to concept artist Emily Siu. “The skin fits well with her characteristics of helping, protecting, and being a guardian of the people.”

Royal Knight Mercy’s design combines many of the hero’s original characteristics with the visual theme of a kingdom’s sworn protector. Along with the red, white, and maroon color choices, “the lion crest symbolizes courage, nobility, royalty, strength, and valor,” Siu added.

Luchador Reaper Skin (Kickoff Clash 2022)

Flying in off the top rope, the Luchador Reaper skin is ready to rumble for the Kickoff Clash as the first tournament-specific cosmetic of the 2022 Overwatch League season.

Reaper Overwatch League Legendary Skin luchador
Reaper Legendary Skin “Luchador”

Overwatch Lead Concept Artist David Kang says the Luchador skin is a nod to Reaper’s cultural heritage. “I grew up in LA surrounded by Mexican culture and always had a fascination with luchadors,” he added. “Mexican wrestling was always a theme I wanted to implement in the game and I thought that the Kickoff Clash tournament was the best time and fit for the skin.”

The skin’s design pays homage to classic lucha libre costumes, featuring elaborate boots and accessories, wrestling tights, a cape and championship belt, and of course the signature luchador mask. Tying it all together is a skull motif that ties back to another aspect of Mexican culture. “After some research, I realized the skull theme was perfect for the lucha libre costume. It fit well with the character as well as Day of the Dead holiday culture—a match made in heaven,” Kang said.

The skull motif shows up prominently on Reaper’s Hellfire Shotguns, which happen to be Kang’s favorite part of the skin. “The character itself stayed true to the luchador costume design, but with the weapon I had a great time implementing the skull and luchador themes to it.”

Zhulong Sombra Skin (2021 Overwatch League Championship)

Even before the Shanghai Dragons etched their 2021 Overwatch League championship into the history books, the vision was there, strong and clear. Dragons have served as powerful artistic motifs for millennia, after all. So as soon as the confetti fell, Overwatch lead concept artist David Kang was ready to bring those ideas to life.

“We knew that a dragon theme would be a banger skin,” he said.

Kang and his team combined the most successful parts of his initial sketches, and the final result is Zhulong Sombra—a name that means “torch dragon” in Chinese. Sombra was chosen to honor Grand Finals MVP Jae-Won “Lip” Lee’s ruthless performance on the hero, and the skin design combines elements of Chinese mythology with futuristic Overwatch tech in a color palette that is thoroughly Shanghai Dragons.

“[Chinese dragons are] a bit different from Western dragons, so we searched the internet for reference images and checked with localization.” Kang said. “We really wanted to hone in on features such as the horns on the crown and the eyebrows and whiskers on the dragon to pay homage to the Shanghai Dragons and Chinese culture.”

The biggest challenge, according to Kang, was seamlessly incorporating the dragon motif into the skin, and the result is striking—a dragon wrapped around Sombra’s body, moving as she moves. “We used the fins of the dragons to create her iconic silhouette of her high collar, and we also gave her a little bit of a dragon tail,” he said. “I think it’s pretty neat that when she moves, the dragon tail floats around, trailing her.”

Pirate Ship Bastion Skin (Countdown Cup 2021)

The final tournament of the 2021 Overwatch League season, the Legendary skin inspired by one of the most famous strategies in the game: Pirate Ship Bastion.

“The idea came from a specific team composition featuring Bastion on payload maps called ‘pirate ship,’ where Bastion sits on the payload while the rest of the team protects him,” Blizzard team members shared. “We thought it would be fun to make Bastion an actual pirate ship!”

The nautical theme is represented by details including a pirate flag and hat, anchors, a marine steering wheel, and a parrot friend. You can almost smell the salt in the air…

Haroeris Ana Skin (Summer Showdown 2021)

As the summer sun blazes outside, the competition is also heating up in the Overwatch League. The Legendary skin inspired by the power of an ancient deity: Haroeris Ana.

Haroeris was an ancient Egyptian sky god whose right eye was the sun and left eye the moon—a detail that’s captured in Ana’s right eye, which glows a fiery red to represent the summer sun. Overall, the combination of armor and feathers in the design creates a powerful visual contrast.

“Our goal with this skin was to convey the idea of victory in an abstract way and create a striking visual with a different look than previous Ana skins,” Blizzard team members shared. “The shiny gold armor is definitely something new for her, and the bird theme evolved organically as a twist on top of that.”

Ange de la Mort Legendary Skin (June Joust 2021)

From June 10–12, the Dallas Fuel, Atlanta Reign, Shanghai Dragons, and New York Excelsior will mount up and charge into battle for the June Joust title. The Legendary skin with deadly intentions: Ange de la Mort.

Widowmaker Legendary Skin “Ange de la Mort”

Since jousting was the central theme for this month’s tournament, the frequent 1v1 nature of Widowmaker play served as inspiration for the Overwatch developers who created the skin. The spider motif wrapping around her chest ties the design back to Widowmaker’s original look, while the witch-like hood lends a mysterious aura..

“The theme of ‘Ange De La Mort’—angel of death—was a great fit because once one of the Widowmaker players wins the 1v1, she can then unleash a terror of death upon the enemy team,” Blizzard team members shared. “We wanted to design one of the darkest skins in the game—the goal was to make her feel lifeless, scary, dangerous, cold, and lethal. A bringer of death in the form of a cyborg from the future with a hint of fantastical element in her costume.”

MM-Mei Legendary Skin (May Melee 2021)

From May 6–8, the top four teams in the Overwatch League—two from the West and two from the East—will get in the ring and duke it out for the May Melee title. The Legendary skin that captures the fighting spirit of the competition: MM-Mei.

Mei Legendary Skin “MM-Mei”

The skin was inspired by the intensity and distinctive fashion of mixed martial arts, and is the first tournament-inspired concept brought to life in the game.

“Since the May Melee is the first Overwatch League tournament of the year, we wanted to design a skin that represents the peak of competition,” the Blizzard team members shared. “We felt combat sports like boxing and MMA embodied the theme well and used this to begin designing the Legendary skin. Last year we saw others in the community having fun with the May-Mei pun, and therefore felt Mei was the obvious hero choice for a May Melee skin.”

Midas Roadhog Skin (Shock’s 2020 Championship)

Roadhog was one of the biggest protagonists of last season’s playoffs, and it’s only fitting that the San Francisco Shock will get their very own Roadhog championship skin to commemorate their second Overwatch League title. Here’s a sneak peek of the Midas Roadhog skin.

The Shock’s championship skin, Midas Roadhog, was first revealed during BlizzConline last month. With a fire-and-gold color scheme, the design represents the team’s back-to-back titles with two scepters in the shape of the Overwatch League trophy as well as two stars on Roadhog’s belly.

Good vs Evil Echo (Fleta MVP Legendary Skin)

The wait is over—today we’re revealing a pair of Legendary skins that just hit the server: Good vs. Evil Echo and Midas Roadhog, created to celebrate 2020 league MVP Byung-Sun “Fleta” Kim and the San Francisco Shock’s 2020 championship, respectively.

Overwatch League Legendary Skin Fleta MVP Skin
Echo Legendary Skin “Good vs Evil”

With the Good vs. Evil Echo skin, the game team wanted to celebrate Fleta’s versatility, which was his defining feature throughout a fantastic 2020 season with the Shanghai Dragons. The result is a dramatic design that uses contrasts—sun and moon, light and dark, angel and devil—to reflect both Fleta’s calm personality and his aggressive in-game playstyle. Don’t miss out, as this is the last time a skin will be made for the Overwatch League MVP.

Thunder Doomfist Skin (Shock’s 2019 Championship)

One day early last November, three members of the San Francisco Shock were herded backstage at BlizzCon, led through the entire length of the conference hall, and taken upstairs into a room overlooking one of the event stages.

The players—Grant “Moth” Espe, Jay “Sinatraa” Won, and Matthew “Super” DeLisi—all remember that walk, as well as the meeting that came after, clearly. After all, it’s hard to forget the first time you lay eyes on your very own championship skin.

Meet Thunder Doomfist, created by the Overwatch game development team to honor the San Francisco Shock’s dominant championship run in the 2019 Overwatch League season.

“The biggest inspiration for this skin was to create some kind of supernatural, elemental being, with a theme of volcanic chaos,” senior concept artist David Kang described. “He’s molten lava inside a rock body, and we added a bit of championship feel with some gold and obsidian for his gauntlet.”
